About Platja del Pinet

El Pinet is a long, gently curving sand beach on the Alicante coast at the southern edge of Santa Pola, inside the municipality of Elche. It lies beside the Salinas de Santa Pola natural park: the Bonmatí salt pans sit just behind it, and the base of the old El Pinet watchtower marks the area. The beach is about 1.75 km long but narrow, around 25 m, with golden sand that is cut in places by old salt-pan channels, and the hulls of a few old boats lie half buried in the sand. Dunes back the shore and are crossed by wooden boardwalks. The sea is open and can be rough, so care is needed when swimming. The Spanish Naturist Federation lists El Pinet as a nude beach; it is popular and gets busy in summer, with a Blue Flag, summer lifeguards and a cluster of restaurants serving seafood and local produce nearby. The surrounding wetlands are an important wintering and breeding area for waterbirds. Walkers can continue south along the sand for about 4 km past La Marina, El Rebollo (also used by nude bathers) and Los Tosales to the mouth of the Segura river.

Getting there

El Pinet lies off the N-332 coast road between Santa Pola and Guardamar del Segura, next to the small El Pinet settlement. The sand itself can only be reached on foot, along wooden boardwalks across the dunes from the roadside area; there is no vehicle access to the beach. A hiking trail through the Santa Pola dunes also starts here. The boardwalks make the approach short and fairly easy, but there are no showers.

Legal context

Public nudity is not an offence under Spanish national law. FEN lists El Pinet as a nudist beach; it is also a Blue Flag beach next to a protected natural park, so park rules on dunes and birds apply. No local ban on nudity is known (2026).

Naturism at Platja del Pinet sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.

No. You leave the car near the road and walk in over wooden boardwalks across the dunes.
