About Platja del Carabasí
El Carabassí is a Blue Flag beach on the Elche coast in Alicante province, between Arenales del Sol and Santa Pola. Although close to Alicante, Elche and Santa Pola, it is backed not by buildings but by a protected system of dunes and pine woods, with the Clot de Galvany and Els Bassals wetlands nearby. The beach is a broad strip of golden sand, about 900 metres long and up to 80 metres wide by FEN's figures, with moderate waves and views of the Santa Pola lighthouse and Tabarca island. The whole beach is free to use, but nudity becomes more common the further south you walk; the nude area is known locally as zone '0' and fills up at weekends. The Valencian regional tourism site lists a naturist area among its services, and FEN recommends it for naturist families. Raised boardwalks lead from the car parks over the dunes to protect them. In season there are lifeguards, toilets, footbaths, sunbed hire and a beach bar.
Getting there
Carabassí lies just off the N-332 between Alicante and Santa Pola, with signed car parks behind the dunes (free, but busy on summer weekends). From the parking, wooden boardwalks cross the dunes to the sand in a few minutes; the beach has an adapted access for people with reduced mobility. Summer buses along the N-332 between Alicante and Santa Pola stop at Arenales del Sol and Gran Alacant, a walk of 15 to 20 minutes away.
What visitors say
Guides describe Carabassí as the clearest nude option in Elche, valued for its natural dune setting so close to the cities. The southern nude area is reported to get crowded at weekends, so arriving early is a common tip. Visitors praise clean water and the boardwalk access, and many note the mixed nude and clothed use is relaxed.
