About Platja de ses Salines

Ses Salines is one of Ibiza's best-known beaches, a curve of about 750-800 m of fine golden sand at the southern tip of the island in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia. It lies within the Ses Salines Natural Park, with the salt pans and pine-covered dunes behind it, and calm, clear water in front. It is very popular and fashionable, lined with beach clubs and sunbed concessions, and is extremely busy in summer. Nude bathing is traditional at the southern end, around the long-standing Sa Trinxa beach bar, where the beach narrows towards the rocks; the Spanish Naturist Federation lists Ses Salines as a nudist-tradition beach. Accounts differ on how many people actually go nude now: some guides describe a regular nude area at the south end, while others say most visitors wear swimwear and topless is the norm. Neighbouring Es Cavallet, over the headland, is the island's main nude beach.

Getting there

Ses Salines is about 15-20 minutes by car from Ibiza town, following signs for Sant Francesc and the salt pans. Paid car parks sit behind the beach and fill early in summer. Buses run from Ibiza town in season. For the nude area, walk south along the sand to Sa Trinxa at the far end, which takes some time from the car parks.

What visitors say

Visitors praise Ses Salines for its setting and water but complain about crowds and prices in high season. Opinions on nudity conflict: some guides describe a regular nude area at the southern end by Sa Trinxa, while a travel account says almost everyone wears swimwear there, with topless common. Those wanting a reliably nude atmosphere are often directed to Es Cavallet.
