About Platja de Pinedo

Pinedo is the first beach south of the city of Valencia, just beyond the port, the Club Náutico and the new mouth of the Turia. It runs south from the village of Pinedo towards El Saler, with rice fields behind it, and its southern part lies within the Albufera natural park. The northern end is urban, with a promenade, restaurants and bars as far as the second breakwater, but the beach becomes progressively wilder to the south. Valencia's official tourism board says there is a free nudist area on the southern stretch, between the dune area once occupied by the 'Casa Negra' restaurant and the site of the old Plexi factory, now demolished; as a landmark, local press place it near the Star drive-in cinema. The Spanish Naturist Federation lists Pinedo among the region's beaches of nudist tradition and gives a total length of about 1.26 km and a width of around 60 metres, with sand mixed with some gravel. The water is usually calm because the port shelters the beach from northerly winds. The nude area is used mainly by locals, with a mixed crowd of couples, single men and older regulars. A separate section of the beach is set aside as a dog beach during the summer season.

Getting there

Pinedo is about 6 km from central Valencia. EMT city buses serve Pinedo village, and the beach can also be reached by bike via the riverside and coastal cycle routes. For the nude area, head to the southern end of the beach, towards El Saler, and walk through the dunes near the former Casa Negra site. Informal parking is available near the village and along the road behind the dunes; it fills up on summer weekends. The urban section has an adapted access point for people with reduced mobility and adapted toilets, but the dune paths at the southern end are soft sand.

What visitors say

Local guides describe Pinedo's nude area as easy to reach and with a mixed atmosphere, used mostly by Valencians rather than tourists. Visitors appreciate the calm water and the quieter, natural feel of the southern end compared with the city beaches further north. Directions are the main source of confusion, as the landmarks most often cited (Casa Negra and the Plexi factory) no longer stand. Services are concentrated at the urban northern end.
