About Platja de la Bassa de l'Arena
La Bassa de l'Arena, also known as Platja del Nen Perdut, is a long, open sand beach on the Ebro Delta in the municipality of Deltebre, running north from the Riumar development towards La Marquesa beach. The delta tourism board gives it more than 3 km of length (its data sheet says 1,800 m) and an average width of about 40 m, backed by dunes, lagoons and rice fields. The beach is divided by use: the first 500 m at the southern end next to Riumar is a dog-friendly zone, the middle is a general beach where fishing and surfcasting are allowed, and the final stretch at the northern end, bordering La Marquesa, is a signposted nudist and naturist area. The Catalan Naturism Club calls it the 'platja naturista de la Bassa de l'Arena'. Water is shallow and the setting is flat and very exposed, with little natural shade. The beach is cleaned daily in season, but services are otherwise minimal.
Getting there
Drive into the delta via the A-7 (exit 39, L'Ampolla-Deltebre) and the TV-3451 towards Riumar; the beach starts at the Riumar seafront (Passeig Marítim). The naturist section is at the far northern end, towards La Marquesa, so walk north along the sand or approach from the La Marquesa side. Nearest train stations are L'Aldea, L'Ampolla and Camarles-Deltebre, with Hife buses into the delta; cycling is popular on the flat delta roads. There is no shade, so bring an umbrella and water.

Legal context
Spain has no national law against public nudity, and nude bathing is lawful on any beach unless a municipal bylaw restricts it. The Terres de l'Ebre tourism board (Diputació de Tarragona) lists a designated nudist/naturist area at the northern end of the beach, with signage, separate from the dog area and the non-nudist area. No enforcement conflicts were found.
Naturism at Platja de la Bassa de l'Arena sits under Spain's rules for officially designated nude beaches — explicit protection inside the marked area.
Full country law: Spain public nudity guide.
Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.
