About Oka Beach

The beach at Parc national d'Oka runs along the shore of Lac des Deux Montagnes, the widening of the Ottawa River just west of Montreal. Its far eastern end, to the left as you face the water, has been used by naturists for more than twenty years and is known locally by the nickname OKApulco. It is regarded as the best-known nude beach in Quebec. The park operator, Sépaq, has never formally recognised the naturist section, but it is tolerated, and a 2026 MTL Blog round-up reports that park authorities put up a sign in 2023 marking the naturist area. On fine summer days a naturist guide puts attendance at 300 to 500 people. The beach is sandy. Regulars keep the area tidy and run a volleyball court, and the park provides toilets, pay showers, picnic tables, drinking water, bike racks and a snack bistro that opens on summer weekends and during the school holidays. Uniformed and plain-clothes police, park staff and volunteers are reported to be present. Expect a long walk along the sand from the car park, and buy parking ahead in summer.

Getting there

By car, take Autoroute 640 west past Saint-Eustache to its end at the entrance of Parc national d'Oka, then follow signs to the public beach. Park entry fees apply year-round, and parking is charged from about 1 June to Labour Day; Sépaq recommends buying the beach parking pass online before you travel. From the east end of the last car park on the left, walk about 1.2 km east along the beach to the naturist section. The route is flat sand.

What visitors say

Naturist guides and Quebec media describe Oka as Quebec's busiest and best-known nude beach, with a sociable, community feel and beach volleyball as a focus. Regulars are credited with keeping the area clean and with self-policing alongside park staff and police. Visitors note the long walk from the car park and the fees for park entry and parking. Recent coverage stresses that the spot is tolerated rather than officially designated, and lists it among a handful of unofficial nude beaches in the province.

Legal context

Sépaq does not officially recognise the naturist area, but naturists are described as informally tolerated by park authorities and the Sûreté du Québec, and a sign marking the naturist area was installed in 2023. A naturist guide reports that the park put up signs in 1990 saying nudity is illegal, and that no naturist has been charged here. Stay within the section at the east end.

Naturism at Oka Beach sits under Canada's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
