About Oasi naturista di Cesano
Cesano is a free public beach at the mouth of the Cesano river in Senigallia, on the Adriatic coast of the Marche. Its name, 'Oasi naturista', has not been an official designation. Naturists have used the stretch for more than twenty years, but the Comune has never recognised it as a naturist area. Nude bathing takes place near the 'Le Piramidi' complex, and the beach is reached over pedestrian crossings that pass the railway. Its closeness to private homes has caused friction with residents. Naturists have asked the Comune several times to set the stretch aside, and earlier requests were refused, with a former mayor reported as saying there would be no reserved area for naturists. In a later episode, police identified some naturists, asked them to dress and issued no fines. The mayor, Olivetti, agreed to meet the group, but we found no record of the outcome. The reason the Comune has not created a naturist area is not documented in the sources we read.
Getting there
The beach is reached on foot from the Le Piramidi complex or the Le Vele shopping centre, using pedestrian routes that cross over the railway, according to a travel guide summary of the area. The sources we read do not give parking details, bus routes or walking times. The beach is described as free public beach, so there is no entry charge documented. Because it sits close to residential buildings, the stretch is sensitive to local complaints.
Legal context
We found no municipal ordinance recognising or banning nude bathing at this stretch. In a recent episode police asked naturists to dress and no fines were reported, according to a Resto del Carlino article. A separate Carlino headline refers to ten fines at Cesano, but its date and details were not available to us. A former naturist association president has argued that courts have generally treated naturism in this area as legal, which is not an official position.
Naturism at Oasi naturista di Cesano sits under Italy's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
