About Feldmochinger See FKK area, Munich
Feldmochinger See is a 16-hectare former gravel-pit lake on the north-western edge of Munich, up to about 6 metres deep and fed by groundwater springs. It is one of the city's most popular bathing lakes, with long lawns, shaded trees along the shore, a large playground on the east side, volleyball courts and a fitness trail in the west, and a step-free bathing jetty on the north shore. According to the City of Munich it is the only municipal lake in Munich with an officially designated nude beach. The city's FKK page places the nude area on the south-west shore and says it covers only a marked part of the shoreline and lawn, so the on-site signs define where nudity is allowed; the city's lake page describes the area as being in the south of the lake next to a nature biotope. The health department tests the water monthly from mid-May to mid-September and rates it very good. On hot weekends the lake is crowded and the large car park fills early; the nude section is a smaller, quieter part of the shore.
Getting there
The lake is in Feldmoching in north-west Munich. By public transport take the U2 or S-Bahn to Feldmoching station and walk to the lake (around 20 minutes), or continue by bus. There are around 1,000 parking spaces around the lake, reported by visitors to charge a small fee and to fill quickly on sunny days. Cycling is a popular option. The city lists accessible parking and step-free paths to the barrier-free jetty on the north shore; the FKK area itself is on lawn at the south side.
What visitors say
Visitors describe Feldmochinger See as a busy, family-oriented city lake with clear water and plenty of lawn, which gets very crowded on summer weekends. Parking pressure is a common complaint. Older reviews criticise the toilets as basic portable units and ask for better sanitary facilities and showers, though these comments date from 2015 to 2020. Sources disagree slightly on where the FKK area is (south-west shore versus south/south-east near the biotope), so follow the signs.
