About Moritz- und Grillensee

The Grillensee and the Moritzsee are two of the three Naunhof lakes, flooded former gravel and sand pits in the Naunhof Forest between Naunhof and Brandis, about 20 km east of Leipzig. The Grillensee, also called Naunhofer See, is groundwater-fed and covers about 57 hectares with a 3.2 km shore and depths to 25 m. The Moritzsee, also known as the Ammelshainer See, lies a little further north-east at about 53 hectares, 3 km of shore and up to 29 m deep. Together with the smaller Albrechtshainer See they are described by the Leipzig regional tourism board as traditional naturist locations, and naturist bathing is listed among their attractions. Both lakes have large sunbathing lawns set among pine and mixed woodland, clear deep water popular with divers and anglers, and separate FKK areas; listings mention a gravel-and-sand beach and a kiosk at the Moritzsee. The setting is quiet and wooded, with a dog beach in the lake area and the Outer Green Ring cycle route passing nearby.

Moritzsee: road access is from the S43 via the Brandiser Weg; no public transport details were given by the tourism board. Paths through the forest are unsurfaced and the lawns slope down to the water. Parking fees were not found.
