About Liptovská Mara Nudist Beach
Liptovská Mara is Slovakia's largest reservoir by volume, a broad lake in the Liptov basin between the Western Tatras and the Low Tatras, west of Liptovský Mikuláš. Its main beaches are textile: a paid beach at the Liptovský Trnovec campsite on the north shore, a free beach at Liptovská Sielnica, and since 2025 a public beach run by Liptovský Mikuláš on the east shore. Nude sunbathing happens informally on quieter, natural stretches of the shoreline away from these beaches; a 2012 TV JOJ report found people sunbathing without swimwear there, and a Komoot highlight marks a nudist spot by the lake, but no source pins down a fixed location. Expect natural banks rather than a groomed beach, no facilities, and a lake that is cool until high summer, with mountain views across the water. Parts of the shore lie in protected areas, so check local rules.
Getting there
Liptovská Mara lies just off the D1 motorway west of Liptovský Mikuláš; roads circle most of the lake via Liptovský Trnovec, Liptovská Sielnica and Bobrovník. Parking and facilities are at the main beaches and campsites; from there, walk or cycle the lakeside paths to quieter stretches. Buses run from Liptovský Mikuláš to the lakeside villages.
Legal context
Slovakia has no designated nude area at Liptovská Mara; a 2012 TV JOJ report noted that the country's only legal nudist beach was at Štúrovo and that nudists elsewhere go 'nadivoko' (unofficially). Nudity that causes public offence can be treated as a misdemeanour, and parts of the shore are protected areas with their own rules.
