About Les Platgetes - Torre Bellver

Les Platgetes de Bellver are a string of small beaches at the southern tip of Orpesa (Oropesa del Mar) on the Costa del Azahar, right on the municipal boundary with Benicàssim. They sit below a low cliff line along the route of the old Valencia–Barcelona railway, now the Vía Verde del Mar walking and cycling path, and are overlooked by the Torre Bellver, an old coastal watchtower. The regional tourism board describes a beach of about 350 m with calm, shallow water protected by a breakwater and explicitly calls it a nudist beach; the Spanish Naturist Federation gives the whole stretch as about 650 m of sand and gravel and says it is classed as nudist in every guide. Because the water is calm and shallow, it suits children, and it carries a Blue Flag. Facilities are unusually good for a nude beach: showers, foot showers, public toilets, a car park, a walkway and adapted access. The federation rates summer occupancy as medium.

Getting there

The usual approach is from Benicàssim: follow the seafront north to Voramar beach and continue on the Vía Verde del Mar, the almost 6 km greenway on the old railway line between Benicàssim and Orpesa, which runs right past the beaches and is suitable for walkers, cyclists and people with reduced mobility. Drivers can use the car park near the beach; local buses also serve the area. The tourism board lists a walkway and adapted access for people with disabilities.
