About Langoyene

Langøyene is a car-free island in the inner Oslofjord, at the mouth of the Bunnefjorden just east of Nesoddtangen. It is one of the most popular summer islands for Oslo residents. The island is a public recreation area, and Norsk Naturistforbund lists a section on its south side as an official naturist area. The heart of it is a small, sheltered cove that is easy to swim from and close to the boat landing. The rest of the naturist side is rocky shoreline, where you can climb around the rocks and find a more private ledge. Drinking water, a toilet and a rubbish bin are at the nearby clothed beach. Camping is allowed: you may pitch a tent for up to two nights, and the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) has a hut on the island. Oslo's municipal environment agency (Bymiljøetaten) is credited for the map of the area.

Getting there

Langøyene is reached by passenger boat from central Oslo. From the boat landing, walk to the south side of the island. The naturist cove is close to the landing, and the rocky sections lie beyond it. There are no cars on the island. Paths are uneven over the rocks, so access for wheelchairs is limited. Check the current ferry timetable before travelling, especially outside high summer.

Legal context

Norwegian law does not forbid nude bathing as such. Nudity is an offence only if it is indecent or offensive in the circumstances. Norsk Naturistforbund lists the south-side area of the Langøyene recreation area as an official naturist area, with a map credited to Oslo kommune's Bymiljøetaten. The rest of the island is clothed.

Naturism at Langoyene sits under Norway's rules for officially designated nude beaches — explicit protection inside the marked area.
