About Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant is a large desert reservoir on the Agua Fria River north-west of Phoenix, managed as Lake Pleasant Regional Park by Maricopa County Parks, with marinas, boat ramps, campgrounds and a few gravel and rocky shorelines rather than sand beaches. It is a boating lake first: on summer weekends the main coves, especially Humbug Cove, known as Party Cove, fill with anchored boats and are watched closely by the Maricopa County Sheriff's lake patrol. There is no designated or recognised nude beach. Arizona guides say skinny-dipping is commonplace on the northern end of the lake and upriver, where coves are quieter and best reached by boat, kayak or 4x4 tracks on the north-east side. The shoreline is rock, gravel and desert scrub with no shade, and summer air temperatures exceed 100°F. There are no lifeguards anywhere on the lake and drownings occur most summers, so life jackets are strongly advised.
Getting there
Enter Lake Pleasant Regional Park from Carefree Highway (SR-74) via Castle Hot Springs Road, north-west of Peoria. Day-use entry is charged per vehicle (reported at about $6-7; boat fees extra); park hours are roughly 6am-10pm. The quieter northern and upriver areas are reached mainly by boat from the park's marinas and ramps, or by rough 4x4 tracks on the north-east side. No public transport.
What visitors say
Arizona naturists describe Lake Pleasant as a place to skinny-dip from a boat in a remote cove rather than a nude beach, and advise avoiding Humbug and Party Coves where patrols and crowds are concentrated. General visitor reports emphasise crowded weekends, heat, and safety warnings from the sheriff after drownings.

Legal context
There is no designated nude area. Arizona indecent exposure law turns on whether another person is present and could be offended, and the sheriff's lake patrol watches the busy coves closely; nude use is only informal and at your own risk.
Naturism at Lake Pleasant sits under United States's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
