About La Lecciona

La Lecciona is a long, wild beach of fine sand between Viareggio and Torre del Lago Puccini in Tuscany, backed by high dunes and the holm-oak and pine woods of the Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli regional park. Unlike most of the Versilia coast it has no beach clubs, and you can reach it only on foot. On 22 April 2022 Viareggio's municipal executive designated the stretch between rescue points 13 and 15 for naturism, at the request of the Italian naturist association ANITA and with the park authority's approval; the resolution notes the area had been used by naturists for many years. The stretch must stay free and open to all, with signs agreed with the park. It is one of Tuscany's busiest nude beaches, with naturists and a large gay crowd. Bring shade and water, since there are no services on the nude stretch.

Getting there

Cars are not allowed into the park, so the beach is reached on foot. Park at the car parks behind the dunes on the Viareggio and Torre del Lago side, then walk along sandy paths through the pine wood and over the dunes to the shore. Look for rescue points 13 to 15, which mark the naturist stretch. Torre del Lago station on the Pisa-Viareggio railway is a longer walk away. The sandy paths are not wheelchair accessible.

What visitors say

Visitors and guides describe a wide, natural beach with dunes and no beach clubs, very busy on summer weekends. The crowd mixes naturists, gay men and some clothed bathers, and naturist volunteers have organised events there with the park's approval. Tips: arrive early, bring an umbrella and plenty of water, and stay within the stretch between rescue points 13 and 15. Some older tourism pages still treat the nude use as informal.
