About Playa de Guayedra
Guayedra is a secluded beach at the mouth of the Guayedra ravine, a few kilometres south of Agaete on Gran Canaria's rugged north-west coast, below high cliffs. It is about 200 metres long, a mix of dark sand and large rounded boulders, open to the Atlantic, so it is often windy with strong waves. Spain's national tourism portal describes it as a nudist beach, and the Spanish Naturist Federation lists it as well. Despite the effort needed to get there, the federation rates occupancy as high. There are no services at all: no lifeguard, showers, bar or shade, and there is a risk of rockfall from the cliffs, so keep away from their base. On calm days the water is clear, but swim with care given the waves.
Getting there
From Agaete take the GC-200 south towards La Aldea; about 3 km on, a narrow dirt track drops down the Guayedra ravine. The first part (roughly 700 metres) can be driven with care, then you walk the rest, under a kilometre in total. Wear sturdy shoes. Bus line 101 serves Agaete and Puerto de las Nieves, but not the beach itself. Not wheelchair accessible.
