About Gribbin Head
Gribbin Head is the National Trust headland between St Austell Bay and the mouth of the Fowey estuary in south Cornwall, crowned by the red-and-white striped Trinity House daymark built in 1832. Small coves lie below the headland, with Polridmouth's two sandy coves and lake on its eastern side, all reached from the South West Coast Path. British Naturism includes Gribbin Head in its directory of UK naturist beaches, but the entry gives no detail about which cove is used or how busy it is, and we found no other current account of nude use. Treat it as an occasional, informal spot: choose an empty, out-of-the-way cove and dress if others arrive.
Getting there
Gribbin Head is reached on foot along the South West Coast Path; the National Trust Gribbin Head circular walk starts from Fowey and passes Readymoney Cove and the sandy coves at Polridmouth below the headland. Paths are uneven with steep sections and are not suitable for wheelchairs.
Legal context
There is no designated naturist area at Gribbin Head; the land is National Trust. There is no designation scheme for nude beaches in England and Wales; simple nudity is not an offence, and the Sexual Offences Act 2003 exposure offence requires intent to cause alarm or distress.
Naturism at Gribbin Head sits under United Kingdom's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
