About Freiburg: Silbersee

The Silbersee is a small bathing lake in Hochdorf, on the northern edge of Freiburg im Breisgau, next to the Breisgau Camping am Silbersee campsite on Seestraße. The lake is about 100 m from the campsite and has a large sunbathing lawn along the water. Part of that lawn is set aside for nude bathing and screened off from the rest by a privacy fence, so nude and clothed visitors use separate sections of the same shore. One campsite guide also says the FKK section has its own sanitary facilities. The water is monitored as an EU bathing water and has been rated excellent for five consecutive years, according to data reported to the European Environment Agency. A kiosk sells snacks and basics, though reviewers note it is not always open, and the Gasthaus Breisgau am See restaurant is close by. The Tunisee, another lake with its own campsite, is less than half a kilometre away. Part of the site is set aside for dog owners, and dogs may only use marked paths to the lake.

Getting there

The lake is in Freiburg-Hochdorf at Seestraße 20-22, next to the campsite, in the flat Rhine plain northwest of the city. The nearest public transport stop is about 1.5 km away. The final stretch is a flat walk or bike ride. Our sources do not give parking or admission details for day visitors, so check with the campsite before arriving by car. Paths to the lawn are level.

Legal context

The FKK section is a screened part of the lakeside lawn set aside by the site and described in campsite guides (seen 2026). We found no city of Freiburg statement on it. Nudity outside the screened section is not covered.
