About FKK Strandbad Müggelsee
The Strandbad Mueggelsee is a historic lakeside bath on the north shore of the Grosser Mueggelsee, Berlin's largest lake, in Rahnsdorf in the district of Treptow-Koepenick. Berlin's official city portal notes a nude (FKK) area west of the bath, below the steep bank, and long-time visitors describe the western part of the grounds as the FKK section, about 200 m from the textile beach and with its own access from the small car park. The FKK area combines a strip of real sand with a wide lawn dotted with trees that gives some shade. The lake is very shallow here: the non-swimmer zone is large, around 1.2 m at most, which suits small children, and swimmers have to wade a long way out. Water has been clear since quality improved after reunification. The bath currently has no operator and entry is free, but its future is uncertain: the listed building needs extensive renovation, and the district has sought an investor, which press reports say could end free bathing. Earlier visitor reports describe toilets, cold open-air showers and a snack stand in the FKK area, but services depend on the season and current management, so check before you go. The crowd is mixed in age and generally calm.
Getting there
From S-Bahn Friedrichshagen take tram 61 along the Mueggelseedamm towards Rahnsdorf; the bath lies off the Fuerstenwalder Damm. Visitors in 2013 reported a small car park of about 30 spaces next to the FKK beach, with a gate into it, and a larger car park near the textile beach about 200 m away; both fill on hot days. The site is flat, but the beach and lawns are not paved.
What visitors say
Reports on nacktbaden.de describe a relaxed, safe and clean FKK area with a mixed-age crowd and plenty of lawn and shade, and praise the shallow water for children. Older reports mention parking problems on busy days, traffic noise from the road, unmown grass, and periods when clothed visitors and onlookers drifted into the nude section. Most reports are from 2006-2013, so conditions may have changed.
