About FKK-Strand Duhnen Cuxhaven

Cuxhaven-Duhnen is a North Sea resort at the mouth of the Elbe in Lower Saxony, facing the Wadden Sea mudflats. Its nude area is known locally as 'Nackeduhnien'. Neu-Nackeduhnien is a sandy spit about 100 m beyond the southern end of the Duhnen promenade. Alt-Nackeduhnien is a sandbank out in the mudflats, reached on foot at low tide in a walk of roughly an hour. Woven willow screens on the spit give some shelter from wind and from view, though visitors have called them inadequate. The beach is small. Swimming depends on the tide, since the water retreats far out over the mudflats. Walkers on the mudflats and on the adjoining clothed beach pass close by. A regional news report in 2026 still named both Nackeduhnien spots as Duhnen's best-known nude beaches and warned that the sections can shift from year to year. Older reports describe clean toilets, reached by crossing the clothed beach. Cuxhaven's resort tax applies on all its beaches, and a day resort card covers them all.

Getting there

Walk to the southern end of the Duhnen beach promenade. Neu-Nackeduhnien is about 100 m further along. Reaching Alt-Nackeduhnien means walking across the mudflats at low tide, about an hour each way. Check the tide tables, and consider a guided mudflat walk if you are unfamiliar with them. Cuxhaven's resort tax (Kurbeitrag) applies, and a day card covers all its beaches. Toilets are by the clothed beach, so bring a cover-up.

What visitors say

Older visitor reports describe a small but pleasant nude area with friendly regulars. It is busy in high summer and quiet on weekdays. The main complaints are mudflat walkers and clothed visitors passing right by, and willow screens that do not fully block the view. Some say bathers on the neighbouring clothed beach stare. Walking out to the offshore sandbank is part of the appeal for some regulars.

Legal context

A 2006 visitor report described Neu-Nackeduhnien as the official FKK beach of Duhnen, and a 2026 regional news report still named it. We did not see a current Cuxhaven tourism or municipal source confirming the designation or its boundaries. The 2026 report warns that the FKK sections can change from year to year.

Naturism at FKK-Strand Duhnen Cuxhaven sits under Germany's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
