About FKK-Badebereich Kronensee
The Kronensee is a 40-hectare lake at Ostercappeln-Schwagstorf in the Osnabrück Land of Lower Saxony, between the Wiehengebirge hills and the Venner Moor, close to the Mittelland Canal and about 16 km from Osnabrück. It is the centrepiece of the Freizeitzentrum Kronensee, a year-round campground with a paid natural lido, sandy beach, beach bar and water sports such as surfing, sailing and angling. At the far end of the lido, past the textile beach and its sunbathing lawn, the operator provides a designated FKK lawn next to a separate section where dogs are allowed; a hedge was planted around 2006 to separate the nude and dog areas. Visitors describe the nude meadow as very large (around 20,000 m², roughly a football pitch or more), closely mown, gently sloping to the water and edged with woodland that gives shade. Swimming from the FKK and dog sections is not supervised. Reports mention couples and all age groups, with numbers rising through warm days. The route to the kiosk and toilets crosses the textile beach.
Getting there
The lido is at Zum Kronensee 9, 49179 Ostercappeln-Schwagstorf. From the A1 take the exit towards Bad Essen and follow the B218 to Schwagstorf, then follow signs to the Kronensee; from Osnabrück head towards Bohmte/Diepholz and turn onto the B218 after Ostercappeln. A car park serves the site (a weekend parking fee of 1 EUR was reported in 2003). Entry in 2026 is 5 EUR for adults, 2 EUR for children 6-15, free under 6, family card 12 EUR, dogs 3 EUR. Walk all the way round the textile area along the fence to reach the FKK lawn; it is a long but level walk on grass.
What visitors say
Visitor reports, mostly from the 2000s, are positive: the FKK meadow is praised as huge, clean and well kept, with good water and plenty of shade from the surrounding woods, and few problems from the dogs in the neighbouring section, especially after the hedge was planted. Reports mention a mixed crowd of couples and all ages, with the meadow filling up through the day. The main drawback mentioned is the long walk round the textile area to reach it, and the fact that the kiosk and toilets are on the textile side. Little recent review material was found.
