About Es Figueral

Es Figueral is a sandy beach of roughly 400-500 m on the north-east coast of Ibiza, in the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu, below the village of Sant Carles de Peralta. Spain's national tourism site describes it as split in two, Cala Veïdo and Platja des Figueral, and it is a developed, serviced beach with Blue Flag-type facilities: lifeguards in season, showers, toilets, sunbeds and parasols, and restaurants behind the sand. The sand is golden and the water clear; like the rest of this east-facing coast it can get surf when north-easterly or easterly winds blow. Most of the beach is used by clothed families and hotel guests. Nudity is found only at the far left-hand end as you face the sea, where an Ibiza magazine guide notes that nude sunbathers are tolerated even though the beach is not officially nudist. That end leads towards Aigües Blanques, the separate cove just to the north that is the north-east's established nude beach, and naturists who want a fully nude setting generally go there instead.

Getting there

From Santa Eulària or Sant Carles take the road towards Cala de Sant Vicent and follow the signposted turning down to Es Figueral. Parking is available near the beach and around the hotels, though it gets tight in high season. The nude end is reached by walking along the sand to the far left-hand (northern) end of the beach. Aigües Blanques, the established nude cove, is reached by a separate road with cliff-top parking and steep steps.

Legal context

Public nudity is legal in Spain, but Es Figueral is not a designated nude beach; nudity is tolerated only at its far end, according to Ibiza Spotlight (2020). The official nude beach of the area is neighbouring Aigües Blanques.

Naturism at Es Figueral sits under Spain's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
