About El Bajo Negro
El Bajo Negro is one of the named sections of the Grandes Playas de Corralejo, the roughly 9 km run of white shell-sand beaches along the east coast of the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park, in La Oliva at the northern tip of Fuerteventura. It lies directly in front of the two Riu hotels, the only large buildings inside the park, about halfway down the coast road from Corralejo. The section is about 500 m long and fairly wide, with coarse pale sand, low dunes behind and a reef offshore that gives the spot its name; waves and the steady trade wind are typical, so swimmers need some care. Because of the hotels it is one of the more serviced parts of the Grandes Playas, with sunbeds and parasols for hire, and the official tourism board describes it as family-friendly. Nude sunbathing is common along the Grandes Playas, but here it is mostly found inside the semicircular stone windbreaks (corralitos) and on the adjoining, quieter stretches to the south such as El Caserón and El Viejo, and in the small coves towards the southern end of the dunes, which the tourism board names as the place for nude bathing in privacy. Expect clothed hotel guests directly in front of the Riu buildings.
Getting there
Take the FV-1 coast road south from Corralejo into the natural park; the Riu hotels are the landmark. Parking is along the roadside of the FV-1, with short walks across the sand from the road to the beach; spaces near the hotels fill in high season. Corralejo town, with shops and the ferry port, is a few kilometres north; taxis and hire cars are the usual way in. The beach itself has no paved access across the soft sand, so it is not wheelchair accessible.
What visitors say
Visitors praise the white sand, turquoise water and big open setting. Opinions differ on nudity: some user listings call Bajo Negro a nude beach, while guides describe it as family-oriented because of the hotels. Most agree that nudity is normal in the corralitos and becomes more common further south. Wind is a constant, which makes the stone windbreaks valuable, and the waves can be strong.

Legal context
Public nudity is not an offence in Spain, and nude bathing is long established along Corralejo's Grandes Playas; the Canary Islands tourism board lists a nudist zone at the southern coves of the Grandes Playas rather than at Bajo Negro itself (2026). The beach lies inside the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park, where leaving the sand, camping and removing sand are restricted.
Naturism at El Bajo Negro sits under Spain's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
