About Culver Beach
Culver Beach is at the north-eastern end of Sandown Bay on the Isle of Wight, beyond the Yaverland seafront. It runs between Red Cliff and Whitecliff Ledge, under the chalk of Culver Cliff. The naturist area is the remote stretch beneath the white cliffs, about a 10-minute walk along the shore from the Yaverland car park. Naturists have used it for many years, and on a warm day it can draw a good crowd. The shore is mostly cobble-sized stones, but at low tide a sandy beach appears. The beach slopes gently, and the water is clear. The beach can be cut off at high tide, and rocks regularly fall from the red cliffs on the way, so keep away from the cliff foot and check the tide tables. There are no facilities on the nude stretch itself. The local paper, the Isle of Wight County Press, has covered a holidaymaker's complaint and replies from local naturists who say nude use here is legal and who would welcome signs saying the beach is used by naturists.
Getting there
From Sandown, follow the seafront road (B3395) north-east toward Yaverland, following signs for the zoo. Just past the zoo entrance is a pay-and-display seafront car park (PO36 8QB) with toilets and a café. Walk onto the beach and turn left toward the white cliffs. The naturist area is about 10 minutes along the shore. Some cliff paths in the area are in poor repair and need scrambling, so the shore walk at mid to low tide is easiest. Not suitable for wheelchairs beyond the seafront.

Legal context
Nudity is not illegal in England in itself, and Culver has no official designation. Local naturists argue in the Isle of Wight County Press that its long-standing use is lawful. The same paper has reported at least one holidaymaker's complaint, so stay within the remote stretch under the white cliffs.
Naturism at Culver Beach sits under United Kingdom's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
