About Cales Coves
Cales Coves is a narrow inlet on Menorca's south coast in Alaior, where two small coves open off a deep gorge. Its cliffs are riddled with man-made caves from the Talayotic and later periods, used as burial chambers and, later, lived in by hippies, which makes it one of Menorca's best-known archaeological sites. FEN gives the beach as tiny, about 20 m of gravel, with calm water and medium use. The inlet is sheltered and popular with yachts at anchor. Nude bathing is customary here, and swimmers often lie out on the rocks. There are no services, and many of the caves are closed or fenced; respect any signage around them.
Getting there
Drive to the signposted car park above the inlet (off the road from Sant Climent / Cala en Porter); it is small and unsupervised, with fewer than 50 spaces. From there it is a walk of about 800 m, roughly 15 minutes, down a track to the coves. There are no facilities, so bring water and food. Not suitable for wheelchairs.

Legal context
Spain has no national law against public nudity. Menorca has no officially designated nude beaches; Cales Coves is listed by FEN as nudist-tradition. The caves are a protected archaeological site and many are closed (checked 2026).
Naturism at Cales Coves sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.

Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.
