About Cala Xarraka
Cala Xarraca is a small cove on Ibiza's north coast in Sant Joan de Labritja, about 3.5 km from Portinatx. It is roughly 90 m of unusual dark sand and gravel, split into three parts: a busier central beach with sunbed and umbrella hire, a restaurant (Cala Xarraca, open in summer) and toilets, and two smaller, more secluded areas on either side among the rocks. Nude bathing happens on the side areas, mostly on the right-hand side as you face the sea, following the line of rocks, where naturists have been going openly for years; the central part is clothed. On the left side of the bay is a natural clay mud bath that people smear on, and the rocky shoreline makes for excellent snorkelling in very clear, calm water. It is not an official nudist beach, but the nude area is well known and accepted by regulars. Because the beach is small, it fills up in summer and the limited parking runs out early.
Getting there
Drive the road from Sant Joan towards Portinatx and take the turn down to Cala Xarraca; parking is limited, so arrive early in July and August. Buses towards Portinatx stop on the main road, from where you walk down. From the central beach, walk right along the rocks to reach the nude area; the path is uneven.
What visitors say
Guides describe Cala Xarraca as a calm, scenic cove with clear water, good snorkelling and a quirky mud bath. The middle beach is the busiest; nudists favour the quieter rocky right-hand side, which is described as discreet and peaceful. Sources disagree on status: hotel guides call the nude area unofficial but accepted, while one booking site describes it as a designated nudity area. Parking is the main complaint, so arrive early.
