About Cala Torta
Cala Torta is a wild, half-moon bay on the north-east coast of Mallorca in the municipality of Artà, within the Llevant natural area and next to the smaller Cala Matzoc. The beach is about 130-150 m of white sand backed by dunes, dwarf palms and pines, framed by low rocks, with turquoise water that is often lively because the bay faces the open sea. There are no permanent facilities beyond bins, though seasonal food and drink is listed. Nudity has long been part of the scene: Mallorca Magazin notes that not only nudists sunbathe on it, and the Ultima Hora newspaper (June 2026) describes Cala Torta and Cala Matzoc as wild beaches where full nudity is a common sight in summer. Nude bathers mix with clothed visitors along the whole beach, with nudity more frequent at the quieter ends. It is no longer a secret and is often busy in high season, but the poor approach track keeps numbers down compared with resort beaches. Waves are typically moderate and can build on windy days.
Getting there
From Artà take the road towards the Llevant coast and follow signs for Cala Torta; the last stretch is a narrow, rough track in poor condition, so drive slowly. Parking is informal near the beach and limited in high season; from there it is a short walk through the dunes. The nearest main road is the Ma-15. There is no public transport and no wheelchair access. Cala Matzoc is reached on foot along the coast to the east.
What visitors say
Guides and visitors describe Cala Torta as one of Mallorca's most natural beaches, with fine sand and clear water but a bumpy access track. Nudity is common and accepted, with nude and clothed bathers side by side; the ends are quieter and more nude. Opinions differ on crowds: some call it secluded, others say it is busy in July and August. Bring supplies, and be careful when waves are high.
