About Cala Morisca

Cala Morisca is a cove on the Garraf coast within Sitges municipality, between the village of Garraf and the cement works at Vallcarca, less than 15 km south-west of Barcelona. It sits at the mouth of a valley in the Garraf massif, hemmed in by steep, scrub-covered limestone slopes, and is about 140 m long and 50 m deep. The shore is a mix of golden sand and rounded stones, and the water is usually calm. Unlike most nude coves near Barcelona, it is not a wild beach: a large beach club with a terrace and pool overlooks the sand, and there are rental sunbeds, umbrellas, toilets and showers. Spain's national tourism portal notes that nudism is practised here, and the Spanish Naturist Federation lists it among the traditionally naturist beaches of Barcelona province, while openly criticising the commercial services and the expensive parking. Nudity is accepted across the beach rather than in a marked zone, though the mix of nude and clothed visitors shifts with the crowd at the beach club. Occupancy is rated high in summer, and the cove draws a mixed crowd of Barcelona day-trippers and naturist regulars.

Getting there

The cove lies off the C-246 coast road between Garraf and Vallcarca; the turn-off is just after Garraf heading towards Sitges. Parking near the beach is limited and paid, and the Spanish Naturist Federation describes it as expensive. The nearest train is Rodalies R2 Sud at Garraf station, from where the cove is a walk along the coast road towards Vallcarca (check the route on a map; parts have no pavement). The final descent is short and easy. Not wheelchair accessible.

What visitors say

Visitors describe a scenic, sheltered cove that is busy and social in summer, shaped largely by the beach club above it. Naturists appreciate being able to swim nude close to Barcelona with food and showers to hand, but several complain about paid parking and the club's near-private feel, which the naturist federation also criticises. The crowd is mixed nude and clothed, Weekends and August are crowded; early mornings and shoulder months are calmer.

Legal context

Nudity is not an offence on Spanish public beaches, and the Spanish Penal Code has not treated it as public indecency since 1989. A municipality can still restrict it by local ordinance. Spain's national tourism portal (spain.info) states that nudism is practised at Cala Morisca, and the Spanish Naturist Federation lists it as a traditionally naturist beach. We found no Sitges ordinance restricting nudity here (checked 2026).

Naturism at Cala Morisca sits under Spain's rules for officially designated nude beaches — explicit protection inside the marked area.
