About Cala de La Grúa
Playa (or Cala) de la Grúa is a small official nudist beach on the protected coast west of Bolnuevo in Mazarrón, Murcia, along the wild stretch through the Sierra de las Moreras towards Puntas de Calnegre. Murcia's regional tourism office lists it as a nudist beach in a natural setting, and it is described as the third of the official naturist beaches on the 12 km coastal track from Bolnuevo. The beach is short, about 85 metres long and 12-18 metres wide, made of gravel and coarse sand with pebbles, and banks of posidonia seagrass often cover the shore; the beaches here are not machine-cleaned. Remains of cut stone blocks on the Punta de la Grúa are traces of an 18th-century loading port that gave the cove its name. The sea is usually calm, there are large seagrass meadows offshore, and visitor numbers are low. There are no services of any kind. A coastal track links it with neighbouring Playa Amarilla and the other naturist coves of the area.
Getting there
The regional tourism office gives access from km 10.55 of the A-42 road (signed Playa de la Grúa / Cala Leño), with the last stretch on a narrow unpaved track and a reserved parking area. Since July 2017 most of the coastal track from Bolnuevo has been closed to motor vehicles, so many visitors park at the end of the road by Playa del Rincón in Bolnuevo and walk or cycle along the coast. No facilities, no disabled access.
What visitors say
Visitors describe a tiny, quiet cove with very few people and fine views, part of a long stretch of undeveloped naturist coves popular with walkers and mountain bikers. The seagrass deposits on the shore and lack of shade or services are the main drawbacks; regulars advise bringing everything and taking litter home.
