About Cala Cap de Planes
Cala Cap de Planes is a small, secluded cove on the Costa Brava between Palamós and Calella de Palafrugell, on the stretch of wild coast that runs north from Platja del Castell toward Cap Roig. It sits directly opposite the Illes Formigues, a cluster of rocky islets about 800 m offshore, and a fisherman's house with a boat ramp stands at one end. The Club Català de Naturisme includes it in its list of nude beaches in the Baix Empordà, grouped with the neighbouring coves Cala Estreta, Cala del Crit and Roca Bona, so the whole cove is used nude rather than a marked part. The coast here is backed by pine woods and rocky headlands; the water is clear and popular for snorkelling and diving. There are no bars, toilets or showers, and the walk in keeps numbers down compared with the beaches near Palamós. It works well as a stop on the coastal path, linking several small naturist coves in a single walk.
Getting there
Cars cannot reach the cove. Most visitors park at the Platja del Castell car park (Palamós) and follow the coastal path north for about 30 minutes, past rocks and pines, with some climbs and uneven ground; good shoes are advised. It can also be approached along the path from Calella de Palafrugell. There are no facilities and the path is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
Legal context
Spanish law does not prohibit public nudity, and the Club Català de Naturisme lists Cap de Planes as a nude beach (list republished by Nació Digital, July 2026). No municipal designation was found.
Naturism at Cala Cap de Planes sits under Spain's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
