About Borkum FKK Beach
Borkum's naturist beach sits on the quieter north-east side of the island, around four kilometres from the town, near the small airfield and backed by high dunes. It is a broad North Sea sand beach run by the island's spa company, free to enter and open at all times, with nude bathing the norm in the marked section. DLRG lifeguards patrol it in season, and beach chairs and small dune cabins (FKK-Budjes) can be rented. Expect wind, open views and strong currents, so swim only between the flags.
Getting there
About a ten-minute bike ride from the airfield area or a longer ride/walk from the town; the dune crossing from the Nordstrand side is at Ostfriesenstraße by the Dünenbudje kiosk. Bicycles are the usual way to get there.

Legal context
Public nudity is not a criminal offence in Germany in itself; it can be treated as an administrative offence (Belästigung der Allgemeinheit, §118 OWiG) where it causes public nuisance, and municipalities regulate it locally through beach or bathing bylaws. The FKK beach is a designated, lifeguarded section managed by Nordseeheilbad Borkum GmbH; a 2023 press release noted the beach sauna had closed and beach-chair rental was by pre-order.
Naturism at Borkum FKK Beach sits under Germany's rules for officially designated nude beaches — explicit protection inside the marked area.
