About Bordenares
Bordenares (also El Lance del Bordenares) is an isolated stretch of coast at the southern end of Mojácar, past Macenas, where the road heads towards Carboneras and the Cabo de Gata-Níjar park. Sources give its length at around 600-700 m, and some guides speak of about a kilometre. It mixes dark volcanic rock with patches of golden sand and gravel. The water is usually calm and clear, which makes it a favourite for snorkelling among the rocks, and a rock outcrop shaped like an elephant stands out in the sea. There is no development behind the beach, only dry hills, so there is no natural shade. Beach databases classify it as partly nudist, and travel guides describe it as a naturist beach. Nude and clothed visitors share the beach. It stays fairly quiet even in high season. Nearby Barranco de Sopalmo and El Sombrerico have their own records.
Getting there
Drive south from Mojácar Playa past Macenas on the coastal AL-5105 towards Carboneras. A track and path lead down from Macenas to the beach. There is a small unsupervised car park with fewer than 50 spaces, and roadside spaces fill on August afternoons. Interurban buses run along the coast, but the nearest stop is a few kilometres away. Expect a short walk on uneven ground, with no wheelchair access.

Legal context
Nudity is not illegal on Spanish beaches, and Mojácar has no known ordinance against it, but Bordenares has no official naturist designation or signage. Nude and clothed visitors share the beach. No enforcement issues were found (2026).
Naturism at Bordenares sits under Spain's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
Full country law: Spain public nudity guide.
Researched 24 October 2026. No official source confirms naturist status, so treat it as unverified.
