About Baltata Beach
Baltata Beach lies on the northern Bulgarian Black Sea coast between the resorts of Albena and Kranevo, in front of the Baltata nature reserve, a riverside forest where the Batova river reaches the sea. The beach is wide fine sand, open to the wind, and backed by protected woodland rather than hotels, which is why it attracts nudists and people looking for quieter, nature-oriented holidays. The nude stretch is small and sits slightly north of the beach belonging to the Therma Village resort: walk about 100 m past the water-sports kiosk and cross the small river mouth to reach it. It is mostly used by Bulgarian couples, young and old, plus foreign visitors who know about it; clothed resort guests walk past along the shoreline and generally ignore the nude bathers. Laguna Beach nearby does not accept nudity, so keep to the stretch by the reserve. Umbrellas and loungers are rented on the beach in season and there is a lifeguard and a bar on the managed part, while the reserve side is undeveloped. Wind can pick up quickly on this open shore.
Getting there
Drive north from Varna on road 9 and follow signs for the Baltata reserve and Therma Village. The reserve has no walking trails to the sea, so most people go through Therma Beach, where there is free parking on the dirt road and the resort's toilets; from there walk north about 100 m and cross the small river. Parking further north costs money. The dirt approach road is rough and a higher-clearance car helps. By bus, take a local service from Varna or Albena towards Balchik and walk about 30 minutes or take a taxi.
What visitors say
Visitors report a quiet, sparsely used nude stretch frequented mainly by Bulgarian couples, with resort guests passing by and paying little attention. Common tips: go via Therma Beach for the free parking, bring your own food and drink because the resort's outlets are often shut for long parts of the day, and expect wind. One reviewer found the toilets dusty and in poor shape, and Therma Village less polished than its photos. Umbrellas are usually rented for a fee.

Legal context
Bulgaria has no national law designating or banning nude beaches; nudity on beaches is governed by municipal public-order ordinances and, in practice, tolerated on remote wild stretches. Nudity at Baltata is customary on the stretch in front of the reserve, not formally designated, and the neighbouring Laguna Beach does not accept it. The hinterland is a protected reserve, so no camping or fires behind the beach.
Naturism at Baltata Beach sits under Bulgaria's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
