About Baggersee Waltersweier

The Waltersweierer Baggersee is a gravel-pit lake on the western edge of Waltersweier, a village belonging to Offenburg in the Ortenau, between Waltersweier and Weier; the Burdascher Baggersee lies just to the west. Nacktbaden.de contributors describe it as a nicely situated, clean lake with both sunny and shady places, and with lying areas on sand or grass all the way round except at the gravel works. Nude bathing is informal and in the minority: a 2003 visitor estimated that at most around 5 percent of bathers were nude, the rest swimming in costumes, and found that disappointing. There is no kiosk and no toilets, and parking is somewhat tight, though a space can usually be found. No recent reports on nude use were found, so expect an ordinary local bathing lake where a few people swim nude rather than a naturist spot.

Getting there

Drive through Waltersweier towards Weier and turn left at the signed turning for the Waltersweier Baggersee. Parking spaces are limited. Offenburg station is about 4 km away, so cycling from town is practical. There are no facilities at the lake.
