About Baggersee Alberweiler
The Baggersee Alberweiler is a former gravel pit (also listed as Kiesgrube Schemmerhofen-Alberweiler) beside the village of Alberweiler in the municipality of Schemmerhofen, Landkreis Biberach, in Upper Swabia. It is a local bathing lake with a large lawn for ordinary sunbathing on the left-hand side as you arrive from the back car park. The only published report of nude use, a 2009 entry on nacktbaden.de, says nude bathing is not expressly permitted but is tolerated in the rear part of the lake, reached by driving to the rear car park and keeping to the right along the shore. Cyclists on routes through the Riss valley use it for a swim stop, and visitors on komoot mention plenty of shade. The water is sampled by the Biberach health office: in August 2024 the municipality closed the lake to swimmers for several days after high E. coli readings following heavy rain, and a similar closure had happened three years earlier. Information is sparse, so check local signs.
Getting there
Alberweiler lies just off the B30 between Biberach and Ulm, a few kilometres north of Biberach. Drive to the rear car park at the lake; the tolerated nude area is to the right along the shore, the main lawn to the left. Parking cost and capacity are not documented. The lake is on several regional cycling loops starting in Schemmerhofen and Mietingen. Paths are unsurfaced and no accessibility information was found.

Legal context
There is no designated FKK area; a 2009 report describes nude bathing as tolerated in the rear part only. The Gemeinde Schemmerhofen can close the lake to swimming when health-office samples fail, as it did in August 2024 (E. coli) and about three years earlier.
Naturism at Baggersee Alberweiler sits under Germany's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
