About Badesee Rodgau
The Rodgau-See is a former gravel pit on the edge of Nieder-Roden, a district of Rodgau in the Landkreis Offenbach south-east of Frankfurt. It is fed mainly by groundwater, reaches about 35 m depth and is known for clear water. Bathing is only allowed inside the fenced Strandbad on the east shore, which the city of Rodgau has run as a public facility since 1976 and which can draw up to 300,000 visitors a season. The city's bathing bylaw divides the Strandbad into a textile beach and a nude beach that are physically separated, and it forbids staying clothed in the FKK grounds. Visitors describe the nude section as the larger of the two, with more sand and lawn, its own showers and toilets, a snack stand and a volleyball court. Swimmers use floating platforms out in the lake; the textile side has the main kiosk terrace and a small playground. Lifeguard cover is provided by the DLRG. It is an established mainstream lido, so expect a mixed local crowd of families, couples and older regulars rather than a remote naturist spot, and busy weekends in hot weather.
Getting there
The Strandbad lies on the Rodgau-Ring-Straße at the western entrance to Nieder-Roden. By car, leave the B45 at Rodgau-Jügesheim, head west and turn off the Rodgau-Ring towards the large free car park outside the fence; reviewers say parking is ample. Entry is by ticket only: the city's fee schedule (2024) sets an adult day ticket at 4 euros, with an 11-visit card for 40 euros. Opening hours in season are normally 8:00 to 20:00. Reviewers describe the grounds as largely step-free and wheelchair-friendly. No dogs are allowed. The nude beach is reached through the same entrance as the textile beach.
What visitors say
Reviewers on lake portals mostly praise the Strandbad as clean, well kept and easy to reach, with the free car park and wheelchair-friendly layout singled out. Several say the FKK beach is bigger and nicer than the textile side and has its own facilities. Complaints centre on goose droppings on the lawns, FKK showers that need cleaning and, in older reports, poor visibility in the water. One commenter noted a season when the FKK area was not open and another later reported it reopened, so it is worth checking before a trip. A few regulars find it ordinary compared with other lakes.

Legal context
Nude bathing is formally provided for: the Stadt Rodgau's Strandbad bylaw (amended June 2021) states that the Strandbad has a textile beach and a nude beach, spatially separated, and that being clothed in the FKK grounds is not permitted. Swimwear is compulsory on the textile beach. Children under six must be accompanied by someone over 16.
Naturism at Badesee Rodgau sits under Germany's rules for officially designated nude beaches — explicit protection inside the marked area.
