About Riva Bella Naturiste Thalasso & Spa Resort

Riva Bella is a large four-star naturist holiday village on the flat east coast of Corsica at Linguizzetta, near Aléria, roughly halfway between Bastia and Porto-Vecchio. Family-run and a member of the France 4 Naturisme group since 1989, it occupies a protected estate of 70 to 79 hectares between a long sandy beach, with shallow, clear water, and a coastal lagoon. Naturism applies across the domain from 1 April to 5 November; outside that period the site stays open but is not naturist. There are 199 pitches of about 100 m² for tents, caravans and motorhomes, with electric and water hookups, plus a range of rentals: villas, chalets, mobile homes, lodges and small two-person cabins. Facilities include a seaside restaurant with half or full board, a beach bar, a grocery shop, a hairdresser and free fibre Wi-Fi. Its most distinctive feature is a 500 m² seafront thalassotherapy and spa centre with massages, beauty treatments, hammam, sauna, hot tub and a gym, where nudity is allowed but not compulsory during the naturist season. Families are well catered for, with a children's club in July and August, a playground and a 10-hectare animal park with llamas, donkeys and pigs. The site holds the European Ecolabel.

Legal context & local rules

Nudity is lawful on the private domain and its beach during the naturist period (1 April to 5 November); outside it the site operates as a clothed campsite.

Public nudity in France is permitted exclusively in designated naturist zones (officially recognised naturist beaches and centres). Outside these zones, nudity is criminalised under French Penal Code Article 222-32 (exhibition/indecent exposure). The legal framework distinguishes between "naturism" (controlled, designated areas) and "public indecency" (general public spaces). France has 150+ member clubs offering naturist accommodations and 50 holiday centres with official status.

Aphrodite Village (Port Leucate)

Aphrodite is one of the self-contained naturist apartment residences that make up the Villages Naturistes of Port Leucate, on the Aude coast between Narbonne and Perpignan. Built in the mid-1970s, it is a large, car-free complex of low-rise apartments, studios and small villas grouped around courtyards, owned by individuals and let mostly by the week through owners and local agencies rather than run as a hotel. Units typically sleep two to four people and have a terrace; some upper-floor flats have a glimpse of the sea and views of Canigou and the Corbières hills. Shared facilities include secure gated access, free parking, two swimming pools (a lap pool open mid-June to mid-September and a relaxation pool open April to October, heated outside high summer), three tennis courts and a pétanque area, with shops, restaurants and the marina within the wider naturist village. The long naturist beach of Port Leucate is a short walk away. Nudity is the norm throughout the residence, pools and beach; the Leucate tourist office lists units here as part of the Aphrodite Village naturist residence.
