About Paya Bay Resort

Paya Bay is a small eco-resort on a 16-acre bluff at the quiet East End of Roatán in Honduras' Bay Islands, overlooking two crescent beaches and the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. It is a general resort rather than a naturist club, but it is known for a clothing-optional policy laid out in three zones. In the restaurant and other public areas swimsuits or sarongs are expected. Bliss Beach, the Black Iguana beach bar and the trails to the rooms are clothing-optional. A secluded area of about six acres is clothing-free at all times, and naturist participation is expected there. The resort alternates naturist weeks, when both the beach and the secluded area are open to nude use, with 'classical' weeks, when only the secluded area stays nude. Rooms have sea or garden views with balconies or terraces. On site there are a restaurant and bar serving cooked-to-order breakfast, a pool, about 1.5 km of nature trails, kayaks, snorkelling and diving on the reef just offshore, yoga and fishing. Trip reports go back to at least 2009, so the clothing-optional tradition is long-standing, though details have changed over time.

Legal context & local rules

Nudity is confined to the resort's private, designated zones; public nudity is not permitted elsewhere in Honduras.

Nudism and naturism laws in this country vary by region and context. Some areas permit designated naturist activities, while others strictly prohibit public nudity. It is essential to research local laws before engaging in naturist activities.

Getting there and visiting

Paya Bay is roughly 75 minutes by road from Roatán's Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport (RTB) at Coxen Hole, along the main road east; the resort runs an airport shuttle if arranged in advance, and local buses go from Coxen Hole to Oak Ridge, followed by a short taxi. Stays are booked directly with the resort. Before booking, check its calendar for naturist weeks if nude use of the beach matters. Room rates were not published on the pages we could open in 2026.

Before you go

  • 2 Bring a towel and sit on it when using shared seating.
