About La Chiappa Village Naturiste

La Chiappa is a large naturist holiday village on the Chiappa peninsula south-east of Porto-Vecchio in southern Corsica, facing the Cerbicale islands. The site covers roughly 60-65 hectares of maquis with about 3 km of its own coastline, made up of sandy beaches and small rocky coves. It combines a campsite with around 230 touring pitches (large, unmarked and partly car-free, plus about 100 permanent plots) and some 235 rental bungalows and villas for two to six people, some with sea views. Facilities include two sea-view swimming pools (one heated), a sauna, several restaurants and a bar, a bakery service and a small shop. The activity list is long for a naturist site: a diving centre, sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing, horse and pony riding, tennis, padel, beach volleyball, mini-golf, yoga, massages and a seasonal kids' club. It is a nudist village, with nudity the norm across the grounds and beaches, though some guests note that the rule is applied loosely. The season runs from early May to mid-October.

Legal context & local rules

Nudity is lawful within the private naturist village and on its beaches under French law.

Public nudity in France is permitted exclusively in designated naturist zones (officially recognised naturist beaches and centres). Outside these zones, nudity is criminalised under French Penal Code Article 222-32 (exhibition/indecent exposure). The legal framework distinguishes between "naturism" (controlled, designated areas) and "public indecency" (general public spaces). France has 150+ member clubs offering naturist accommodations and 50 holiday centres with official status.

Getting there and visiting

La Chiappa is about 12-15 km south-east of Porto-Vecchio by road, signposted towards Pointe de la Chiappa; Figari airport is about 30 km away and a car is essential. Most guests stay on a pitch or in a rental unit booked direct (chiappa.com, tel. +33 4 95 70 00 31); listed 2026 pitch prices start around €24-29 a night for two in low season and around €45-53 in high season, excluding tourist tax. Dogs are accepted on request for a fee. Ask the village about day visits and whether an INF naturist card is required on arrival.

What visitors say

Visitors consistently praise the setting: sea-view pitches, clear water, good beaches and coves, and friendly staff and restaurants. Recurring complaints are dated, poorly maintained toilet blocks, a pricey shop, weak mobile signal and permanent campers occupying the best plots. Some find the atmosphere relaxed and naturist; others report loose enforcement of nudity, late-night disco noise in high season and a busy, club-like feel. Reviews on camping portals are mixed overall.

Aphrodite is one of the self-contained naturist apartment residences that make up the Villages Naturistes of Port Leucate, on the Aude coast between Narbonne and Perpignan. Built in the mid-1970s, it is a large, car-free complex of low-rise apartments, studios and small villas grouped around courtyards, owned by individuals and let mostly by the week through owners and local agencies rather than run as a hotel. Units typically sleep two to four people and have a terrace; some upper-floor flats have a glimpse of the sea and views of Canigou and the Corbières hills. Shared facilities include secure gated access, free parking, two swimming pools (a lap pool open mid-June to mid-September and a relaxation pool open April to October, heated outside high summer), three tennis courts and a pétanque area, with shops, restaurants and the marina within the wider naturist village. The long naturist beach of Port Leucate is a short walk away. Nudity is the norm throughout the residence, pools and beach; the Leucate tourist office lists units here as part of the Aphrodite Village naturist residence.
