About Vesecký rybník

Vesecký rybník, officially Mlýnský rybník and known locally as Tajch, is a woodland pond in the Vesec district on the southern edge of Liberec. It sits in a quiet valley of forest and sandstone rocks crossed by cycling and walking trails, and the valley is noted for its insect and wildlife diversity. There is no formal beach: people lay out blankets on the mown meadow, in the trees or on the sandstone shore. According to a 2009 e15.cz feature, the back part of the meadow is a popular spot with Liberec's nudists, while swimmers, walkers and anglers use the rest; in winter the frozen pond fills with skaters. The water was described as clean as long as there is no long heatwave. There are no attractions, rentals, lighting or showers; the only toilet is in a small seasonal restaurant beside the pond. This information is old and we found no recent confirmation, so nude use may have changed.

Getting there

The pond is in Vesec, on the southern side of Liberec. Most visitors come by car or bike; the 2009 report put the nearest bus stop more than 2 km away. Parking was free (the car park was in poor repair at the time). Entry is free. Head for the back of the meadow for the area naturists used. Paths are unpaved meadow and woodland.

Legal context

Nudity is not illegal in itself in Czechia; it can be prosecuted only as a misdemeanour against public order (offending public decency) or under site rules, and many lakes and sandpits tolerate nude bathing in customary areas. Vesecký rybník has no designated naturist area; a 2009 press report describes informal nude use of the back meadow, and a TN.cz guide lists only Máchovo jezero as an officially marked nude beach in the region.

Naturism at Vesecký rybník sits under Czechia's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.

Researched 24 October 2026. No official source confirms naturist status, so treat it as unverified.
