About Thurø Rev
Thurø Rev, known locally as 'Revet', is a sandy spit on the south-east tip of Thurø, a small island joined by a causeway to Svendborg in south Funen. It looks across the water to Valdemar Slot on Tåsinge. Danske Naturister lists it as a nude beach. The spit has two beaches, one facing south-west and one facing east, so one side is usually sheltered whatever the wind. The beach is sand mixed with small pebbles, and the guide rates its quality as 'ok'. Its shape changes noticeably from year to year as the spit grows and the bay towards Smørmosen erodes. Because it is far from the road, the beach avoids loud music and ball games. On good days it gets fairly busy with a mix of clothed and nude bathers, but it stays calm. Visitors report that most people on the beach are naturists. There are no facilities at the reef, and the long walk from the car park is the main complaint.
Getting there
Cross the causeway from Svendborg to Thurø, turn left at the end and drive through the village. Turn left onto Sønderbyvej and follow the road around the island, then turn right onto Flagebakken and follow the signs for Thurø Rev. Parking on the Flagebakken/Grastenvej bend is forbidden. Use the shaded public car park at the end of Østerskovvej instead. From there it is about a 15-minute walk to the tip of the reef, and the route can also be cycled.
What visitors say
The few visitor comments are positive. They describe a cosy, calm beach where most people are naturists, which makes newcomers feel at ease. The main drawback is the fairly long walk from the car park to the sand. Danske Naturister notes that it stays peaceful even when busy, because it is too far from the road for radios and ball games.

Legal context
Denmark has no specific naturism law. Since a 1976 Justice Ministry decision, nude bathing on beaches is not in itself considered indecent, and police treat it as generally permitted unless it offends or harasses others (Ordensbekendtgørelsen §3(2)). No signposted nude zone or local ordinance is known. Thurø Rev is listed as a nude beach by Danske Naturister, and clothed and nude bathers share it.
Naturism at Thurø Rev sits under Denmark's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.

Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.
