About Tapotupotu Bay
Tapotupotu Bay is a horseshoe of white sand near Cape Reinga at the very top of the North Island, with a Department of Conservation campsite behind the beach. Away from the camping area, quieter parts of the bay are informally used for nude sunbathing. Rips can form at the outer edges of the bay, so swim in the sheltered middle. Basic toilets serve the campsite; otherwise bring all supplies.
This New Zealand naturist beach is a clothing-optional place in a traditionally tolerated setting. Families are welcome.
Legal context
