About Stængehus Beach, Nude Area
Stængehus is a beach on the Kattegat coast of north Zealand, in Gribskov Municipality, between Tisvildeleje and Liseleje. Behind it lie the pine forests of Tisvilde Hegn and Asserbo Plantage. Danske Naturister lists the shore east of Stængehus as one of the main nude stretches in the Copenhagen region. Walking east from the Stængehus car park, nudity becomes common after about 200–300 m. The busiest naturist section is around the 'Jydelinien' line, about 800 m along. The guide says more than half a kilometre is in regular nude use. Beyond that, a further 200–300 m is frequented by gay men. The beach is sand backed by dunes and forest. The water is the usually calm Kattegat, with some stones and occasional jellyfish. The crowd mixes ages and includes families with children. The guide describes a relaxed atmosphere and mutual respect between clothed and nude bathers. The only buildings are the lifeguard huts on the former shooting range. On sunny weekends the car park fills early.
Getting there
From road 205 between Ramløse and Frederiksværk, turn at Sandkroen onto Nyvej towards Liseleje and Asserbo. After about 1.2 km, follow the 'Kattegat 2 km' sign through the forest to the gravel car park at Stængehus. There is also a large car park on the former shooting range. From the car park, walk down to the beach and turn right. Jydelinien is a 10–15 minute walk, or about 6–7 minutes on a forest path heading north-east. You can also walk or cycle about 3 km along the coast from Tisvildeleje.
What visitors say
Visitors describe a long, natural beach with a friendly, mixed crowd of all ages, including families, and good respect between clothed and nude bathers. Arrive early on sunny weekends, because the car park fills. Opinions differ about the dunes beyond Jydelinien. Some commenters report harassment or cruising there, while others say they have had no problems. Stones in the water and jellyfish come up occasionally.

Legal context
Denmark has no specific naturism law. Since a 1976 Justice Ministry decision, nude bathing on beaches is not in itself considered indecent, and police treat it as generally permitted unless it offends or harasses others (Ordensbekendtgørelsen §3(2)). No signposted nude zone is known here. Use is customary, and Danske Naturister lists the stretch. Some visitors have reported harassment in the dunes.
Naturism at Stængehus Beach, Nude Area sits under Denmark's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
