About Kaikai Beach

Kaikai Beach is a small, sheltered sandy beach at the end of a gravel road north of Dunedin, next to Whareakeake. Steep hills and the walk in keep numbers low, and nude sunbathing has long been accepted on the quieter parts of the beach. The water is cold and the surf can be lively, so take care swimming. There are no facilities, so bring what you need and take your rubbish home.

This New Zealand naturist beach is a clothing-optional place in a traditionally tolerated setting. Families are welcome.

Legal context

Naturism at Kaikai Beach sits under New Zealand's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
