About Eden Beach
Eden Beach is the clothing-optional beach of the Hawksbill Resort on Antigua's west coast, just past the village of Five Islands and near Galley Bay. It is one of four beaches on the resort's headland and is generally described as the only place in Antigua and Barbuda where nude bathing is accepted. The beach lies beyond the southern end of the resort's guest rooms, down a small path and through a white fence and gate posting the beach rules. It is larger than people expect, with sheltered nooks for privacy, natural shade from trees and shrubs, and scattered beach chairs; Hawksbill Rock, the islet that gives the resort its name, sits just offshore within swimming distance. The water has submerged rocks, patches of reef and sea urchins, so water shoes are a good idea. Photography is strictly banned. Crowds are small: the beach is often almost empty in the morning and around midday, when most people go back to the resort for lunch.
Getting there
Eden Beach is reached through the Hawksbill Resort, about 15 minutes' walk through the resort grounds from the main area, following signs to the gated entrance; there is no public road to the sand. Hawksbill is off the road through Five Islands village, west of St John's. Guests have direct access; outside visitors should contact the resort about day passes before going, as we could not confirm the current policy.
What visitors say
Visitors are pleasantly surprised by how large and private the beach is, with plenty of quiet corners and natural shade. Many say it is nearly empty in the morning and at lunchtime. The common warnings are about the rocky, urchin-dotted sea floor, so water shoes are recommended, and about the strict no-camera rule, which most appreciate. Reports on how easy it is for non-guests to visit vary, so check with the resort.

Amenities
Legal context
Public nudity is otherwise not accepted in Antigua and Barbuda; Eden Beach is described as the only beach where nudity is sanctioned, by virtue of being the resort's designated clothing-optional beach. We found no government source, so its status rests on the resort's own rules (no photography, posted at the gate) as of 2022 reporting.
Naturism at Eden Beach sits under Antigua & Barbuda's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
Researched 24 October 2026. No official source confirms naturist status, so treat it as unverified.
