About Crvena glavica beach

Crvena Glavica ('red head', after the reddish rock of the headland) is a string of small coves on the Budva Riviera between Sveti Stefan and Petrovac, just south of the Sveti Stefan peninsula and next to the cove of Drobni Pijesak. Guides disagree on the count, describing anything from three main coves to seven small ones, separated by rocky points and backed by pine-covered cliffs. The beaches are a mix of small pebbles, rocks and some concrete sunbathing terraces, with clear water. Part of the shore is developed: Galija beach club runs a paid section with loungers, umbrellas, showers, changing areas and toilets. The nude use is in the more secluded, harder-to-reach coves away from the beach club, where the cliffs give shelter on both sides and there are no facilities. It is a long-standing but low-key clothing-optional spot that relatively few visitors know about, so it is quieter than the main Budva beaches even in high summer.

Getting there

Crvena Glavica lies below the main Adriatic coast road (E65/E80) just south-east of Sveti Stefan. Buses between Budva and Petrovac stop along the road near Sveti Stefan; drivers can use roadside or beach-club parking where available, which is limited in summer. From the road, a steep, rough path drops through the pines to the coves; it is uneven and not suitable for people with limited mobility or for wheelchairs. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water and shade, since the secluded coves have no services; the beach club section has paid facilities.

What visitors say

Visitors describe the coves as beautiful and peaceful but physically awkward to reach, with a steep, bumpy path that puts off casual beachgoers. Nudists value the privacy given by the cliffs; others prefer the comfort of the Galija beach club with its paid loungers and showers. Accounts of how many coves there are, and which ones are clothing-optional, differ, so expect to look around on arrival. Bring everything you need to the quieter coves.

Legal context

Montenegro tolerates nudity at designated nudist beaches and resorts, while public nudity outside such areas is not legally sanctioned and can bring fines. Crvena Glavica's nude use is a tolerated tradition in its secluded coves, not a designation we could find in an official source; avoid the beach club section (2026).

Naturism at Crvena glavica beach sits under Montenegro's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
