About Caliso Bay
Caliso Bay is a beach on the coast of west County Waterford, between Youghal and Dungarvan, about 5 km off the N25 at Clashmore Cross. The Irish Naturist Association lists it as a naturist location: arriving at the beach car park, the naturist section is to the right. The bay is on an exposed stretch of the south coast, and the INA warns specifically of dangerous currents and rip tides here, so it is better for sunbathing and paddling than for serious swimming. There are no facilities at the beach; the nearest towns for supplies are Youghal (about 13 km) and Dungarvan (about 12 km).
Getting there
Leave the N25 Youghal-Dungarvan road at Clashmore Cross (by a fuel station), go back under the main road onto the R671 and follow it about 5 km to the beach. There is a car park at the beach; the naturist section is to the right of it. No public transport to the beach.
Amenities
Legal context
Ireland has no designated naturist beaches, and public nudity can in principle be treated as an offence; in practice discreet nude bathing at quiet spots is tolerated. Caliso Bay is not designated or signed for naturism.
Naturism at Caliso Bay sits under Ireland's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
Full country law: Ireland public nudity guide.
Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.
